Model Show submissions

The Model Show has no fee for entry. Participation in the show is open to any member of the convention staff or volunteer crew as well as any convention attendee. The Model Show at Nan Desu Kan is on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to bring in your entries early!
Model Show entries will be accepted from Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Anime genres. Models of any kind and any make will be accepted, however, any model entry that needs special care and/or display apparatus will need to be provided by the entrants themselves.
Submission and viewing hours for the Model Show Entries will be accepted at these times:
Friday: 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to Noon.
Viewing hours (Subject to change at the convention): Friday: 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Because the Model Show is in the same room as the Art Show, the room will be closed at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Entries may be picked up after the room re-opens for the Art Auction, and MUST be picked up before 4:00 p.m. Sunday. If for any reason any entrant needs to pick up their entries before 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, please see the Model Show staff.
Awards will be given in the following Model Show categories: Mecha, Spaceship, Vehicle, SD (Super-Deformed), “Anime Girl” – Figure Model, Figure, Custom, and Diorama as well as numerous Junior Artist Awards. Judging will be done Saturday after the show closes, and the judges will be selected prior to the show. A special prize and award will be given for Best of Show, as voted by attendee ballot! All awards and prizes can be claimed when the entrants pick up their entries.
All Model Show entries must be stable enough to display on a standard convention table. Any special display equipment or apparatus brought in by the entrant must be stable as well. We will not allow any submissions that may pose a hazard to convention attendees or appear to be unstable.
The Model Show staff reserve the right to disallow any submissions depicting themes that would not be accessible by, or are objectionable for, minors. Although we will do our best to be reasonable about submissions, we will also need you to keep in mind that there are young attendees at the convention.
The Model Show staff will safeguard all entries within their ability. We also have security staff on hand to help make sure none of the model entries walk out the door. However, the Model Show staff, Nan Desu Kan, the hotel and all organizational staff will not be held responsible for any damage or loss. The staff will be allowed to handle the entries in order to add additional entries as they are received. If any mishandling by convention members is observed, please report it to the Model Show staff!
