For the past 12 years, we have served the Rocky Mountain anime community by providing a safe, friendly environment for people of all ages to enjoy Japanese animation and culture. We got our start in 1996, just a group of anime fans with a desire for a great anime convention in the west, and we have grown to become the largest convention in the Rocky Mountain region. We are now a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the knowledge of Japanese animation, art and culture. We offer a variety of programming and original activities throughout the convention weekend, with a focusing on responsibility, integrity and a love of the community.
Because the community has been so good to us, we have a sincere desire to give back, and every year we ask our guests and dealers to contribute items to auction off for charity. Every year, we choose a different charity to donate the funds from our auctions to, and all charities receive 100% of the proceeds that come from the live auction and raffle. In the past we have donated to the Japan America Society, the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Fund, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and most recently the Pediatric Asthma Fund, in memory of one of our staffers.
Since day one, Nan Desu Kan has been dedicated to a "no bootleg" policy, and that policy continues to this day. We allow no bootlegs to enter our dealers or exhibition space, out of respect to the artists and creative geniuses behind the anime we love so much. We also offer panels on how to spot illegitimate merchandise, and how bootlegging affects the anime industry over all.
There are a lot of people who love NDK…many of them are under 18 years of age. In order to provide a safe environment for all, we keep the shows and the content of our convention to a PG-13 rating. After 10:00pm, we offer more “grown-up” content for our attendees over 18. Proper identification is required to attend any event rated 18 or older, and no exceptions are made.
If you are a newcomer to Nan Desu Kan or a veteran, we appreciate you spending time with us. Over the convention weekend, feel free to ask us questions or share your comments at our Operations window. It is our goal to create an amazing convention for you, and we love to hear from you!
