(Denver, Colorado) -- This September 12th through 14th, Denver will once again become the nation's top location for fans of Japanese culture, as Colorado's Nan Desu Kan convention brings together actors, artists, industry insiders and fans for a celebration of Japanese animation, games, music, tradition and more.
Anime – Japanese animation – has exploded in popularity over the past decade, and every day new fans discover the artform through DVDs and network broadcasts. Manga – Japanese comic books – are one of the fastest-growing categories in American publishing. For many, anime and manga provide a starting point for exploring the wider universe of Japanese music, art, language and history.
Colorado’s annual Nan Desu Kan convention is the region's premier showcase for this cultural phenomenon. The three-day event will include talks by favorite actors, the latest news and previews from the anime industry, music, art, amazing costumes, video game competitions, and of course non-stop screenings of the very best new and classic anime releases. Highlights for 2008 include a concert by West Coast rock sensations The Slants, a live Rock Band video game competition on the convention's main stage, plus talks by top voice actors from Dragonball, Trinity Blood, Fullmetal Alchemist and more. Also, NDK's enormous marketplace will feature a dazzling array of treasures including books, DVDs, music, collectibles, and clothing.
"No matter who you are, you'll find something to love in the world of anime and Japanese culture,” says NDK's executive director Jeremy Pieta. "Nan Desu Kan is a place where long-time fans can explore their passions, and where those new to anime can learn what the excitement is all about."
Nan Desu Kan takes place at the Marriott Denver Tech Center, September 12, 13 and 14, 2008. Attendees can pre-register until August 15, or can register at the convention.
