Hello everyone and welcome to the boards. The staff of NDK hopes you enjoy the boards. This is mainly a test to see how useful it will be to the community and the convention. There was a little interest in setting up a board, and beings it is a free board and we have the space and server for it, we decided to give it a shot.

Now for the part that everyone loves, the Rules of Conduct v1:

  • Be civil and courteous to your fellow board members. Flaming and derogatory comments will not be tolerated.
  • Keep it clean. Nan Desu Kan attracts a wide variety of age groups, and thus there may be impressionable minds wandering about. There are some language filters built in, but you are expected not to trigger them. Imagery of a racy nature is also not allowed.
  • Solicitation, promotion and distribution of copyrighted material is not allowed. This includes fansubs, scanlations, emulators and ROMs, music, etc. We want to see the companies that provide us with all the anime, manga and other forms of Japanese entertainment continue to provide it. This means that they a have to get some money in return for your viewing it. I know there are various opinions on this matter, and we hope you understand and appreciate our stand on this.
  • You are expected to have fun interacting with fellow fans.

Additions for v2:

  • Please keep images, videos, and links clean and family-friendly. Do not post pictures, videos, or links to web sites depicting sexually-explicit situations, offensive hand gestures, or other objectionable material. This applies to post content, avatars, and signatures. A good rule of thumb is not to post anything that wouldn't be allowed on prime-time television or in a PG movie.
  • Images in signatures should be kept at a reasonable height also. Please keep them under approximately 300 pixels. Width is really not too much of a concern since the forum's template takes care of that so they are not distracting to people trying to read the forum.

Additions for v3:

  • Off-topic posts will not be tolerated. You will be warned once and repeated offenses in a short time period will result in temporary post bans with the possibility of permanent post bans for severe offenders.
  • This is not a chat room. We are happy to provide a place for you to converse with other fans and con-goers, but Forums are intended for topical discussions. If you wish to chat randomly with people, we have set up an IRC channel for that purpose. It is much better for such things. You can use any client (Pidgin or mIRC are popular ones). Once you have one, connect to irc.freenode.net and then join us on the #ndk chat. If you need a bit more help to get connected, one of our forum frequenters has put together a tutorial and this is a good page for IRC beginners.

There they are, short and sweet. I hope they aren't too harsh. These rules can and will be changed and adjusted as we see fit, but hopefully there will be no need to do so.

Hmm... wow, how new is this forum...? I guess I'm the first Non-staff member to join o.o ...
Well anyways I think that it's great you guys made this forum =D It'll be like taking peeks at your xmas presents before the xmas morning actually comes... except better! Anyways I feel a little out of place being the only Non-staff memeber here so I think I'll go round up some of my best NDK going buddies and get them to join too. So Kudo's on the new website layout and super thanks for going to the trouble to set up this forum for everyone! Way awsome =D Keep up the good work!

Well, congrats on the new site and forum. I've REALLY been looking forward to this and I must say that this is really nice. Since it looks like it pretty much just opened up, it may take some time for NDK-goers to get hip to the new site and forum. Let's hope it doesn't take too long, though. Wink

I am sure that once things get closer to NDK, more people will start checking the site to see what is going on. Then topics will start filling in.

I only find things out when they are to be posted on the page. I am busy waiting myself. I am also trying to think of more things to post on the page. Maybe some theatrical releases of anime or something. I saw that Funimation is releasing movies, but I haven't found any Denver dates yet.

Just checked that link, it is showing 2 for Colorado.  1 in Ft. Collins and 1 in Colorado Springs.  Both showing on Friday August 25th at 9:30 pm and Saturday August 26th at 2 pm and 9:30 pm.  Just a heads up!  I do not understand why its not in downtown Denver, but it is not for me to decide.

Due to recent image issues, I have added some more guidelines. Refer to the first post to read up.

I like the zero-tolerance stance on off-topic posts. Too many interesting threads had been getting taken over by huge numbers of random chat-like posts that had nothing to do with the original topics. As a result, I had eventually stopped following a number of threads I was originally interested in.

Is there a way to broadcast this a little more to make sure people know the rules have been updated?

Maybe add it to the little News banner at the top.

It's not very noticable though...
